Investment Management in Hazlet

We build a portfolio that fits your goals and your comfort with risk. Then we keep watching it. After it's set up, we check back on a schedule, explain what moved and why, and tell you plainly whether anything needs to change.

What investment management means here

Investment management is the day-to-day work of running your money. We pick the mix of stocks, bonds and funds, put it in place across your accounts, and adjust it as markets and your life change.

Setting up the portfolio is the easy part. The real work comes after. We check back with you on a set schedule, walk through the numbers in plain words, and tell you what to leave alone. Most of the time, the best move is no move.

We meet clients at our office, or by phone and video if that's easier. People come to us from Hazlet and nearby towns like Holmdel, Matawan and Middletown.

What the work includes

A risk conversation first
Before we pick a single fund, we talk about how you'd feel in a bad year. Your answer shapes the whole portfolio.
Building the portfolio
We choose an asset mix that matches your timeline and goals. Every holding has a reason, and we'll tell you what it is.
Rebalancing
Markets push a portfolio out of shape over time. We bring it back to the mix we agreed on, so you aren't carrying more risk than you signed up for.
Looking at all your accounts together
A 401(k), an IRA and a brokerage account can overlap without you knowing. We look at them side by side so they work as one plan.
Scheduled check-ins
We call or meet on a regular schedule. You get a short, readable summary of performance, fees and any changes we made. If you have questions in between, pick up the phone.

Signs it's time for help with your investments

  • You don't know what you own

Old accounts from past jobs, funds picked years ago, and no clear idea how they fit together. That's common, and it's fixable.

  • Your mix hasn't changed in years

A portfolio set up at 40 may be wrong for you at 60. If nobody has looked at it since, it's due.

  • Market drops make you want to sell everything

Selling in a panic locks in losses. Having someone to call before you act can keep a bad week from becoming a bad decade.

  • A big change just happened

An inheritance, a business sale, a rollover or retirement on the horizon all change what your money needs to do.

How we work, start to finish

  1. 1

    Introductory meeting

We talk about your goals, your timeline and what you have now. Bring statements if you have them. No decisions get made in this first meeting.

  2. 2

    Review and proposal

We go through your current holdings and costs. Then we show you a proposed portfolio and explain each part in plain terms.

  3. 3

    Putting it in place

Once you agree, we move or open accounts and set up the investments. We tell you what's being sold, what's being bought and why.

  4. 4

    Follow-up and care

We check back on a set schedule. We explain what happened, rebalance if needed, and tell you what you can do on your end, like keeping contributions steady and calling us before you pull money out.

What affects the cost

What you pay depends on how much work your accounts need and how we're paid for it. We explain our fees in writing before you commit, so you know what you're paying and for what. We won't quote a number before we understand your situation.

Size of the portfolio
The amount being managed is one of the biggest drivers of cost.
Number and type of accounts
Several retirement and taxable accounts take more coordination than one.
How complex your situation is
Company stock, a business, or money from an inheritance can add work.
How often we meet
More frequent reviews take more time. We'll agree on a schedule that fits your needs.

Questions about investment management

Something not covered here? (732) 334-6742

What credentials do you hold for handling investments?

We are Series 7 and SIE licensed. Those credentials allow us to buy and sell securities for clients. We're happy to walk you through what that means at your first meeting.

Can you promise my portfolio will go up?

No, and anyone who does is overselling. Markets go down as well as up. What we can do is build a mix that fits your goals and risk, keep costs in view, and help you stay on course when things get rough.

How often will I hear from you?

We set a check-in schedule together when we start. At each one, we go over what changed, what we did and what's coming. If markets swing hard in between, we reach out so you're not left guessing.

Does everything I own need to be managed by you?

Not at all. Plenty of people begin by handing us a single account, like an old 401(k) rollover. We'll still review the accounts you keep elsewhere while we build the portfolio, so nothing overlaps or works against the rest.

How does this fit with your other services?

Investment management handles the portfolio itself. If you also want a bigger-picture plan, our financial planning and retirement planning services cover goals, income and timing. Tax management can help with how and when you sell.
