Life Insurance Consulting in Hazlet

We help you figure out how much life insurance you need, which kind fits, and what it should cost you each year. Then we stay in touch. Coverage that made sense five years ago may not fit today, so we check it with you.

Coverage that matches what your family would need

Life insurance is simple at its core. If you die, the policy pays your beneficiaries. The hard part is the details: how much, for how long, and which type. Get those wrong and you either pay for coverage you don't need or leave your family short.

We are licensed to sell life insurance, and we also hold the Series 7 and SIE licenses. That means we can look at a policy alongside your savings, retirement accounts and investments, not as a separate product. A policy should fill a real gap in your financial plan.

Most people buy a policy and never look at it again. We don't work that way. After the policy is in place, we check back, review beneficiaries and coverage amounts, and explain what to watch for as years go by.

What our life insurance consulting covers

A needs calculation

We add up what your family would need: paying off a mortgage, replacing income for a set number of years, college costs, final expenses. Then we subtract what you already have. The gap is your coverage number.

Term vs. permanent, explained plainly

Term covers a set period, often 10 to 30 years, and costs less. Permanent policies like whole life build cash value and cost more. We show you both side by side and tell you which one fits your goals.

A look at policies you already own

Bring your current policy and any group coverage from work. We read the fine print with you, note when term coverage ends, and flag whether employer coverage would follow you if you changed jobs.

Beneficiary and ownership setup

Who owns the policy and who gets paid matters. We walk through primary and contingent beneficiaries and how the policy ties into your Legacy Planning.

Help through underwriting

Applications often involve a health questionnaire and sometimes a short medical exam. We tell you what to expect and keep track of the paperwork so it doesn't stall.

Ongoing reviews

We check in after the policy is issued and again when life changes. A new child, a paid-off mortgage or a new business can all change what you need.

Signs it's time to talk about life insurance

Someone depends on your income
If a spouse, children or a parent would struggle without your paycheck, you likely need coverage. This is the most common reason people call us.
You only have coverage through work
Group life is often one or two times salary. That may not be enough, and it usually ends when the job does.
Your term policy is ending soon
Renewing an old term policy can get expensive as you age. It's better to look at options a few years before the end date, not a few weeks.
Your life changed and your policy didn't
Marriage, divorce, a new baby or a new mortgage are all reasons to check your coverage and beneficiaries.
You own a business
Partners and key employees may need coverage so the business can keep going or a buyout can be funded.

How working with us goes

  1. 1

    Introductory meeting

Sit down with us in person, or join from your kitchen table on a call or video chat. Tell us about your family, your income and what keeps you up at night. Mostly, we listen.

  2. 2

    Running the numbers

We work out your coverage gap and lay out a few policy options with the yearly cost of each. You see the reasoning, not just a recommendation.

  3. 3

    Applying and underwriting

If you decide to go ahead, we help fill out the application and keep you updated while the insurer reviews it. Some approvals take a few weeks.

  4. 4

    Delivery and a walkthrough

Once the policy shows up, we read through it together. We point out premium due dates, who is named as beneficiary and any deadlines to convert coverage.

  5. 5

    We check back

After the policy is in force, we follow up and put regular reviews on the calendar. That way you hear about something that needs attention before it turns into a problem.

What moves the price of a policy

The insurer sets your premium based on how much risk it takes on. We don't control those rules, but we can explain them and compare options so you aren't paying for more than you need. These are the things that move the number most.

Age and health
Applicants who are younger and in good health pay less. Tobacco use, some medical conditions and family history can push rates up.
Death benefit and years covered
The bigger the payout and the more years the policy runs, the higher the premium. Matching both to what your family would really need keeps the cost reasonable.
Policy type
For the same death benefit, permanent coverage usually runs several times the price of term, since part of each payment goes toward cash value.
Riders and options
Extras like a waiver of premium or a child rider raise the cost. We tell you which ones earn their keep for your situation and which you can skip.

Life insurance questions we hear

How much life insurance do I actually need?
It depends on your debts, your income and how long your family would need support. A rule of thumb like ten times salary is a start, but it can be far off. We do the actual math with your numbers in the introductory meeting.
Is term or whole life better?
Neither is better for everyone. Term is often the right fit for covering a mortgage and raising kids. Permanent coverage can make sense for lifelong needs, like leaving money to heirs or covering estate costs. We explain the tradeoffs and let you decide.
Is it worth swapping an older policy for a new one?
Sometimes, but we'd look hard first. A new policy means going through underwriting again at your current age, and you could give up cash value or features you already have. In many cases keeping the old one is the better move, and we'll say so plainly.
Do you only look at insurance, or my whole financial picture?
We look at the whole picture. Because we also offer financial planning and retirement planning, we can see how a policy fits with your savings and investments instead of treating it alone.
What happens after I buy the policy?
We stay in touch. We check back once it's in force, review it with you on a regular schedule, and remind you before term or conversion deadlines come up. Clients in Hazlet, Holmdel, Matawan and nearby towns meet us at the office or by video.
